Hello everyone it is me again and today I am going to talk about the relation of IT and ethics, more particularly about ethical egoism. I would like to start with an example so Jack believes that Jill should promote her own interest in accordance with ethical egoism. Jack might believe this, but he isn't going to tell Jill. He looks to his own interest first. This means that whatever we do for our benefit it is ethical to do so and it is not considered unethical to not act against our interest.

Let's move to the IT field. How does this example connect to IT? We need to consider a situation, this can be a variation of things from a job and its compensation to competing for a position or a pay raise. For instance a freelancer make their own set of rules and can determine the amount of compensation they want in return. Most of the time it is considered rude but they are right in a way. They are a one-man team, doing a lot of hard tasks on a very high level and please be honest with yourself nobody wants work just to be tired at the end of the day. On the other hand, based on my low level experience, hiring a freelancer is much cheaper than creating a group and forcing them to work together.

we are all humans and we usually buy food and accomodation from the money that we earn above this amount. The ethical aspect is coming forward. Here is the question: what is the balance? I will show it in an example. So Bob works in the same group with Emil. Bob works much better. He has better ideas but he likes to be in the shadows. He is a typical IT guy.Emil is much lauder everybody knows his name in a branch. The boss will promote somebody based on the performance and he will provide the job to Emil. What is a good move? Would you tell your boss that Bob works better?

I hope you enjoyed this week's blog. We will see each other next week.
